During the second day of the APA meeting held on 27 September 2016, parliamentary delegates attending the meeting discussed the draft resolutions by the two Standing Committees on Political Affairs, and on Economic Affairs. The above mentioned meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, Second Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Asian Parliamentary Assembly. After two-day discussion and deliberation, the 1st Executive Council Meeting of the APA was fruitfully concluded in the afternoon of 27 September 2016, with the Cambodian parliament receiving acclamation from parliaments in Asian countries who said Cambodia has smoothly organized the event, which has produced satisfactory outcome. Parliament delegates from Asian countries, meanwhile, expressed their appreciation to the parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the warmest hospitality and excellent arrangements accorded to them during the two-day meeting. The meeting discussed 19 draft resolutions put forward by three APA Standing Committees concerning Political, Economic, and Social and Cultural Affairs. The regional gathering also debated the Draft Resolution on Planning APA Budget for 2017.

In the afternoon of 26 September 2016, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly 1st Executive Council Meeting continued its meeting to discuss the 9 draft resolutions of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs. The meeting was co-chaired by H.E Dr. Nguon Nhel, Second Vice President of the National Assembly and President of the Organizing Committee of the 9th APA Plenary Session, and the head of the Chinese delegation.

H.E. Mr. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Cambodian parliamentary delegation, who was attending the First Executive Council Meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly this morning of 26 September 2016 said the reason that the Asian Parliamentary Assembly has chosen Cambodia as the venue for its meetings is not accidental. He added that Cambodia has remarkably achieved its economic growth, and the country has become a place of full peace and robust development after it had gone through decades of wars. Due to these critical factors, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly has confidence in, and decided to select Cambodia to host the said regional event.

The parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia is hosting the two-day meetings of the First Executive Council and the Standing Committee on Staff and Financial Regulations of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly from 26-27 September 2016 in capital Phnom Penh. Prior to the meetings held at Sofitel Phnom Penh Pokeethra Hotel, H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, Second Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Asian Parliamentary Assembly, has granted a courtesy call to all heads of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly delegations and the leadership of the APA Secretariat who are present here in the Kingdom of Cambodia to attend the aforementioned meetings.
